Initial thoughts about getting started with my PhD is that I am expecting it to be a lot of hard work. Many of you without doctorates may be asking what is a doctorate? It is an extended piece of writing that takes energy and a great deal of discipline to achieve. Stamina. Something people expect me to have a lot of given the loss of a parent when I was merely 12 years old.
